Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in memory of our beautiful, brave mum, wife and daughter…Jemma.
Last Summer, with virtually no prior symptoms, Jem was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma, which attacks the bile ducts and liver. It is often undetectable until it’s too late: She was given just weeks to live by the local medics and we were told it was very unlikely she would still be with us for Christmas. Getting a second opinion (we fought hard to find a leading expert, Dr Andy Gaya from The London Clinic) was a life-saver. Some initial emergency surgery to open up collapsed bile ducts worked and paved the way for chemotherapy. For a while, Jemma’s tumours reduced in size and she showed signs of some recovery. She tolerated harsh treatment and regular stays in hospital over many months. Thankfully we got to spend an ‘extra’ 10 months with Jemma - and in which time we made many, many wonderful family memories. We will miss Jemma more than words can say: age 45 is just far too young to be taken away. All support for AMMF will help raise awareness of this dreadful disease. 💔🙏
