Story
I am seeking sponsorship as I know too many people who are impacted by an eating disorder, be they a sufferer or a carer, that are struggling to get the help they need. Eating disorders remain the No. 1 killer of those with a mental illness and it is known well in excess of £1 million are actual sufferers. However, like every mental illness, the lives of parents, siblings, and friends are also affected and make every day a struggle. The earlier treatment of an eating disorder starts, the shorter and the higher the chance of a full recovery. Yet, on average a sufferer will wait over three years before seeking help and it can take a further six months before treatment can start. The type and effectiveness of treatment remains a "postcode lottery" due to a lack funding. The BEAT support lines provide effective confidential support to anyone who is impacted by any form of eating disorder. The research BEAT carries out is positively influencing government policy and raising awareness, which is why they need you help.
