Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My Mum, Sylvia Joan Cree was diagnosed with Lung Cancer with secondaries in her Brain in May 2012 just after her 79th birthday at which she had felt fit and had hosted and catered for a group of 16 ladies for a birthday lunch.
She rejected any agressive treatment and decided to live the time she had left in the best possible way. This was facilitated by Macmillan Cancer care and the fantastic work they do visiting patients in their homes. Up to the end of her life Mum felt that she had made absolutely the right decision. She had great Care at Home, in Myton hospice, (to whom she donated £1000 in her lifetime) and in Town Thornes, a residential home that she lived in for the last month of her life.
My Mum knew that I was entering the York Marathon and also that I was planning to raise money in rememberance of her. She was not in favour of grand gestures and so I want to raise just £1000 but in a way in which everyone donates a small amount.... To that end, I would love to hit the £1000 mark with 500 people giving just £2 each.
