Event: London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023, on 2 April 2023
Our amazing team of 20 runners are coming together for this fantastic event to raise funds to drive forward the healthcare improvements that will shape a better, fairer future for East London and beyond.

Story

In November 2020, Sarah, my amazing wife, mother to Zac and Zara, and friend to so many found out she had triple-negative breast cancer.
After a brutal amount of treatment including chemo, surgery and radiotherapy, Sarah got the all clear in May 2021.

Almost one year on, whilst on holiday in April 2022, Sarah got news that results from a test showed her cancer had returned with vengeance.

We tried to get on a very promising trial. However, in order to get on the trial she had to have countless appointments, tests, scans across different facilities which took time.
Unfortunately Sarah deteriorated rapidly and during one of her appointment was admitted to hospital, 10 days later on May 22nd she passed away, just 5 weeks after the diagnosis.

Sarah's cancer was so aggressive and time was so important.

Bart's Charity are supporting the "Bart's 900" campaign. The campaign coincides with the 900th anniversary of health care at St Bartholomew's Hospital. (900 years, that is crazy, right!)
The Bart's 900 campaign is looking to fund 2 medical centers, one of which is a dedicated Breast Care center at St Bart's.
This new Breast Cancer Centre will be a state-of-the-art facility and l bring together surgery and post-surgery care in one place, improving every stage of the patient experience.

As well as improving breast cancer outcomes for patients today, it will also help make a significant contribution to global research, saving lives for generations.

If this existed for Sarah, who knows what different this would have made for her.

A group of us would like to help other in a similar situation to Sarah by raising money for the truly amazing cause.

In April 2023, we will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
