Story
My mother Nicola is a cardiac rehabilitation nurse and works at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. I would like to trek 500 miles around the NC500 in our beautiful Scottish Highlands to raise awareness and support for the British Heart Foundation. They are the biggest researcher into cardiovascular disease in the United Kingdom and heart disease is the single biggest killer.
Fighting for every heartbeat!
So I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.
Preventing heart disease could be as easy as giving up smoking and drinking less alcohol but staying active, de-stressing and eating healthily helps enormously.
£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
Let the adventure begin!
