Story
I am running in memory of my late auntie Angela, who died of cancer in March 2019. As Angela, and many other cancer patients have testified, patient care for cancer patients is life-changing. They ensure patients are cared and supported in every way, from counselling to reflexology to aromatherapy to creating support groups for the patients. When my auntie was unwell, I saw first-hand how hard-working, committed and accommodating the cancer patient carers were and for this reason, I wanted to run for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
As the charity describes themselves:
"Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is dedicated to supporting people whose lives are touched by cancer. Our support centres in Essex, and Hertfordshire are vital in helping people living with cancer. Our aim is to provide a safe space where you can be yourself and don’t have to put on a brave face. A place where you can have enjoyable, relaxing and calming treatments in the knowledge that you are not alone."
It's an honour to run and fundraise for a charity which provides support to cancer patients in their darkest hour, just like Angela received. I feel this is what Angela would have wanted which gives me a great sense of purpose and fulfilment.
But, at the same time, charities like Helen Rollason rely on donations and fundraising to maintain the care they provide. As a result, I need YOUR help to support a charity dedicated to helping others. Any donation would be appreciated to support this wonderful cause and charity.
P.S. with every donation - please leave a song title and I will add YOUR song to my marathon playlist!
