Shaving off my dreadlocks · 11 September 2012

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

Time for change I reckon!

I recently realised what aspect of myself I consider the most interesting. Sense of humour? Objectivity? Thoughtfulness? Nope. Hair! Not such a surprise, I suppose, when my hair is this interesting!..

So I'm going to cut it off.

Perhaps something more interesting will be revealed? Besides a badly neglected scalp.

Please, please donate generously and help the progress of this charity. I really am very lucky, and there are those who really aren't. I would be really happy if the change I'm making in my life made a bit of a difference to others.

Cheers then.

[Footnotes]

Apparently the explaination I gave for my choice of charity was too long. I disagree, its a very interesting story, so here it is.

Well, as I was contemplating the reasons why each charity deserves my contribution (and that of all the kind donators:) ) a knock was heard at the front door. Expecting my friend, I bounded thither and swung it open ready to greet the guest. To my surprise, instead of Aaron, there was a young lady with a Cancer research t-shirt and a clipboard. Well, she did just a fantastic job telling me about the progress Cancer Research UK has made, and after a long and awkward conversation (I think the initial surprise shook my generally unshakable cool demeanour), I explained that I wasn't in a position to contribute today, but that I would shave my head and donate. "What, you want to give them your hair?" says she. "No" say I, "I think I'd like to keep some of the hair and distribute the rest among my friends and family". "Oh" now she's startled, "fair enough. Thanks. Seeya". This was a sign, Cancer Research UK it is!

Thank you, girl.
