Having grown up with mild Haemophilia, I've benefitted from the great work the Haemophilia Society undertakes to support children and adults with genetic bleeding conditions. I'm lucky enough to be fairly healthy and to have had such supportive parents, but not all people growing up with bleeding disorders get the support they require to live their best lives! Having a bleeding condition can impact how quickly someone heals from an injury, but thanks to modern medicines this shouldn't stop people with a bleeding condition from taking part in a whole host of sports. The Haemophilia Society help adults, parents and children to access information and support.
As an adult I've always avoided any major event like this, as I really don't enjoy running or training! The furthest I've run as an adult is 3.5km, so I'll be breaking all sorts of PBs in the process of completing this event. I'll be swimming 750m in the sea, cycling for 17.5km around the hilly Great Orme, and then completing a 5km run.
Big or small, every donation helps. £10 could help create an information booklet about living with a bleeding disorder. £50 could pay for one child to take part in a sports activity at a youth camp, which is something that massively helps young people to build confidence that will help them in their adult lives.
