Rob's London Marathon for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

Fundraising for Cardiac Risk in the Young
I'm running the London Marathon on the 21st of April 2024 to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
CRY is a charity that runs screenings for young people, enabling them to be checked for potentially fatal heart conditions. Many people who have these conditions will have no idea as there aren't many obvious symptoms. This isn't possible on the NHS so CRY are the only way for young people to access screening.
I had one of those conditions and had no idea until I had a cardiac arrest in March. Thanks to the quick thinking, extraordinary cool-headedness and excellent CPR from my housemates; as well as the rapid response of the paramedics, I was incredibly lucky to survive.
I was very lucky to have such amazing housemates and paramedics, but even with the best possible care not everyone is so fortunate, as fewer than 10% of those having a cardiac arrest out of hospital survive.
Now I have recovered, I want to help as many young people as possible (and their families and friends) not have to go through the same thing, or much worse.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Please, if you can, donate to help CRY provide this screening and/or share this page for a cause that is very close to my heart.
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk .
