Story
Thank you for visiting our Just Giving page. Rob McGreal is running the Milton Keynes full marathon in memory of Evie and raising money for COUNT THE KICKS charity. Rob heard of Leah & Colin's sad story and decided to help raise awareness of this charity & raise some well needed money for a great cause and to help Leah & Colin keep Evie's memory alive.
This is Leah and Colin's story,
COUNT THE KICKS work to empower Mums with knowledge and confidence during their pregnancy. They aim to encourage mums to work with their Healthcare Professionals and teach mums of the importance of monitoring their baby’s movements.
My partner & I are parents to an angel baby, we lost our little girl Evie at 29 wks she was born sleeping. We were in & out of hospital with lack of movement but was always told she had a good heart beat so she was fine, however this was not the case, she was very poorly. We were transferred to Oxford for treatment, unfortunately is was just too late. If we had been referred earlier I coud have been treated and the outcome could have been different. On 24th February 2012 my midwife visited me to do the normal checks, he started to check the heart beat but there was no sign. We went straight to the hospital and waited for a doctor to see us, it felt like a life time. We had a scan and it was confimed Evie's heart had stopped. Over the next few days I was in & out of hospital to have tablets to get my body ready for being induced. On 28th February we went in and I was induced, that day felt like it was a week, I was induced at 11am and Evie Anne Woodcock was born sleeping at 4.35pm weighing 1lb 9oz she was the most beautiful baby, she looked just like her big brother, blonde hair and perfect little nose. We spent the whole night with her just holding her, I wish I could have held her forever, I never wanted to let go. The next morning around 11 we said our goodbyes to our beautiful little angel as she was taken away and we walked out of the hospital empty handed. No mother should have to go through this it was the worst feeling I have ever felt, I went in with a baby and came out without her. She was a little fighter and I'm so proud of her for being strong to get as far as she did but she was just too beautiful & amazing for this world. We miss her so much and wish we could just have one more cuddle with her, she has an amazing big brother who is keeping us going and keeping us strong. This is one of many fund raising events we are organising to raise money for count the kicks charity so please look out for what we are doing.
