We help to make life better for carers.

Story

Jordan is my son. He is a college student,  was 20 on 14th July, and has Down's Syndrome. We joined the crew of The Swan in Shetland on 18th August 2014, to sail right around the UK, joining up with some 45 tall ships at Falmouth to race to the Isle of Wight, then sailed with them in procession to Greenwich, London, return home to Scotland in mid-September, a month-long voyage covering at least 2,500 kilometers.

The Swan is an historic herring fishing vessel which has been fully restored and is operated by the Swan Trust as a training vessel. Jordan may well be the first person with Down's Syndrome to have ever completed such a challenging voyage as a full crew member.

Carers UK is a UK wide charity providing vital information, advice and support to carers, and every penny raised will be distributed pro-rata to all four UK countries: Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales. We are aiming to raise £1 a kilometer - and all donations, large or small, are equally important.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
