Story
I have challenged myself to run 12 half marathons in the next 12 months for the project "special care for special babies" at The Royal Bolton Hospital.
I have heard lots about the neonatal unit at Royal Bolton Hospital as a very close friend is a nurse there. The work they do on a daily basis is unbelievable and the patients and parents who visit the hospital are incredibly brave. Because of this I would like to help contribute to their cause over the coming year.
This is taken from their fundraising page
"We are looking to make some structural changes to create more space around the cots to give parents and families more space to help them bond with their new baby. We would also like to improve our parent areas creating an area that will allow parents to sit down and eat or to get a few minutes to gather their thoughts and take some time out from what can be a stressful situation and finally we want to modernise our parent accommodation for parents who need to stay at the hospital whilst their baby is in the Neonatal Unit."
I have completed 2 half marathons before but have only started running again in the past 2 weeks and the first race is in Wilmslow on Sunday 19th March I have also never consistently for any serious amount of time so this is a significant challenge for me!
I have registered for the Vitality half marathon in Liverpool on the 2nd April, Great Manchester run on 28th May and plan on running the Shrewsbury half on 28th June. I will announce more races as I register for them but please contact me if you know of any fun/challenging races you have taken part in or heard of.
Please give anything you can to support this great cause.
