Many of my friends will know that I will be running the Yorkshire Marathon later this month - my one and only marathon (a promise to myself). I have just completed my longest training run and am feeling reasonably fit so there's no going back now! A massive thank you to Pocklington Runners for helping me get to this point.

I hadn't intended to run for charity, having done so before and I didn't want the added pressure this time. However I have recently applied to join, as a volunteer, a small charity in York that does wonderful work helping prevent river deaths - sadly we have too many on the Ouse each year. So I have decided to see if I can raise a modest amount to help this worthy cause. Please donate if you can.

York Rescue Boat is an independent lifeboat and search and rescue charity, every single member of the team is a professional volunteer, no one receives a wage. All monies raised through this page will go to help fund our weekly prevention and rescue patrols on the River Ouse in York as well as our education program in schools, youth groups and university's teaching the fundamentals of water safety.
