Story
Having raised over £1,500.00 in the last two years on behalf MacMillan Cancer through VERY generous donations from my friends, family and colleagues I wasn't going to fundraise this year. I am riding in the Velothon Wales 140k bike race and thought I'd give you all a break for a year
However, due to the recent tragic on-field death of Danny Jones, a lad I played rugby with for a number of years at Ovenden ARLFC (or at least he played and I ran about with the 2nd team!) I thought I wanted to do my bit.
If leaving us at 29 years old wasn't enough he left behind a wife and 5 month old twins. As I was already riding in this event it seemed really fitting to do it in Danny's memory (given he represented Wales at international level for those don't follow RL!)
There's a hugely successful benevolent fund already set up for Danny's family so I'm raising money and awareness for Heartbeat of Sport. Heart screening is compulsory in Super League and hopefully, through Danny's legacy, it can become compulsory in the lower leagues as well. check them out at http://www.heartbeatofsport.org
