Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the weekend of the 16th & 17th July myself and some good friends from university have challenged ourselves to ride 170 miles in two days from coast to coast along the 'Way of the Roses' route, starting in Morecombe, ending in Bridlington. We'll cross the Yorkshire Dales and complete the first 109 miles in one day! For anyone who cycles you'll know that this is no mean feat.
For those of you who are aware of my body shape and size, this is almost impossible. You may also be aware that I have a bike, I like cycling on the occasional sunny day but I am not all that good at it. I however have been drafted in by the Ramsey Road Cycling team (please see team page) as the specialist downhill cyclist for the weekend and hope to be a valuable member. The long descents and flats are my forte but when gravity is working against me, its an issue. However I am working really hard to get fit so I can make a good go at the challenge.
In all seriousness, it is going to be a real challenge but one that is very worthwhile and hopefully will give myself and the other lads chance to raise some money for some great charities. I have chosen to support Cancer Research UK as I know a number of people and families that have been affected by cancer and I also see the effect it has on patients and their families everyday, when I’m at work, so I’m really keen to raise as much money as possible for the cause.
I would be grateful for even the smallest of donations and it will hopefully make those steep gradients that little bit easier!
Please give whatever amount you see fit. Your donation is greatly appreciated! Remember an additional 28% will be given to charity if you click on gift aid. Also check out my other team mate's sites via the ‘Ramsey Road Cycling’ team link.
Thanks very much, Rob/Fergo
