Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you will all be aware, my wife Lisa was taken away from us far too young and I want to give something back to the people that helped us during the time of her illness. It was Lisa's wish that she stay at home through her illness and not go into either a hospital or a hospice. Without the help of Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford we would not have been able to make this happen.
As well as providing us with home visits from nurses Lisa used to go in to the hospice regularly for physio appointments which enabled her to keep her mobility for longer than she would have otherwise. She also used to use their facilities to have a bath and wash her hair once a week.
IF YOU ONLY GIVE TO ONE CHARITY THIS YEAR PLEASE LET THIS BE IT.
It costs the hospice £3.3 million per year to run of which they only receive £1.4 million from the government. The rest is made up purely of donations. All money given on this site is guaranteed to go to the local hospice in Bradford and not get swallowed up by admin costs of the national charity. This money will help people.
The challenge involves flying out to the Grand Canyon and trekking approximately 100km over 5 days in November 2012 before returning home again. It will be a massive physical challenge for me (especially in that heat!!) however I am determined to do it for such a good cause in Lisa's memory.
More details can be found here on the challenge itself
