Story
In early June 2014 I (along with a group of people from work) will be walking 54 miles in 24 hours through the Brecon Beacons, as part of the annual TrekFest challenge (http://www.trekfest.org.uk/the-challenge.html). It will involve walking through some absolutely stunning parts of the country, including the historic Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, and over the highest point in southern Britain - Pen Y Fan!
In some ways the walk will be very enjoyable, it's a great location, it will be in the summer, the Brecon Beacons has an International Dark Sky Reserve Status (which is great for when we are walking in the middle of the night!), and I am fortunate enough to be walking with a great group of people.
That said, it will be extremely challenging, which is why I am raising money for Bees for Development (http://www.beesfordevelopment.org/), a Monmouthshire based charity which supports people in the developing world to earn a living through sustainable beekeeping. This is a great idea, it is affordable, sustainable, it teaches skills which can be passed on through communities, and anything that increases the number of bees is a fantastic idea!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, I really appreciate anything that you can donate, and I am really looking forward to the challenge.
