Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my London Marathon 2012 JustGiving page.

I don't have Alzheimer's. Here is hoping you don't. However from now until 2020 the number of people who suffer from Alzheimer's disease in this country is due to double in size. As one enters the golden age of their life, they have that life slowly ripped away from them.

I ran the London Marathon in 2010 and raised over £2800 for the Alzheimer's Society. I still feel i can do more to help and with your support i am hoping to raise as much as possible.

I am dedicating myself from now until April 22nd 2012 on two things.
1) Train towards a 4 hour 15 minute marathon
2) Raise as much money as possible for the Alzheimer's Soceity in the process.

I will never finish the marathon in first place but i will feel like a winner if i can smash my fundraising target of £1,111.11.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

UPDATE:

20th Jan 2012.  My training plan proper began at the turn of the year and i am thankful that i put in a good number of miles in the last few months of 2011. I am already upto 11 miles for my long run on a Sunday and it looks like it will be more like 12.5miles for this Sunday.  The cold weather is really not helping my motivation.  I am currently making sure that i have a huge push on the fundraising side as when all is said and done the most important thing i'm looking to achieve is a healthy amount of sponsorship for a really worthwhile cause.

So if you are reading this and have yet to donate. Please just click on the little box and donate now. Now, i'm off out for a run. (in the rain. freezing cold rain. and it looks quite windy too.....)

UPDATE:

25th March 2012. So i have not really been keeping this as updated as i had hoped. There a few reasons for this. I started my new job on 1st Feb and have been away from home alot. (Training on the treadmills of the luxurious 'Holiday Grim' in Farnborough.) Also my wife's ever expanding tummy (within which lies our first child) has been keeping me enthralled/constantly worried.  And finally i have been too busy pounding the mean streets with all this running training.  In fact i should (sorry, i will be..) running for 3 hours today but thought i had better make sure that this fundraising page is all in good working order.  The running is going well and i am feeling confident of putting in a good effort come April 22nd.  My half marathon race in Colchester was enjoyable and i smashed my target of finishing in under 2 hours by posting a time of 1 hour 49min. Well, thank you for reading so far and if you don't have your credit or debit card to hand you can text ROBA99 £5 to 70070 and that would instantly donate the full £5!  Your support is so special to me and those that i am helping through this fundraising. You can really make a difference.
