Story
We've decided to take on the bonkers challenge of cycling coast to coast across the UK.
We will be starting at Whitehaven and tackling some of the most gruelling peaks (over 1,000m elevation at times) on our road bikes crossing the Lake District and the North Pennines before ending our 250 km journey in Newcastle.
Whilst this journey certainly sounds daunting to us and perhaps you, it really is incomparable to the journey that many Afghans will take to escape the tragic situation that is currently unfolding in Afghanistan. And a sobering reminder to us of how fortunate we are to be able to choose to make this journey.
As such, we've decided to use this challenge to raise awareness and some funds to go towards the UN Refugee Agency. A wonderful charity who are doing everything possible to protect civilians but are urgently in need of public support. Donations will help them to provide emergency shelter, food, healthcare, water and sanitation to civilians in need amid this major humanitarian displacement.
250km is the distance from Kabul to the Pakistan border. And, only the start of what could be an extremely long journey for many of these refugees.
So if you can, we would love your support to spur us on our journey and in turn support an incredibly important charity at this time.
