Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Road to Towton JustGiving page.

Recently a former medieval re-enactor and an original member of the Stanley Household tragically died of cancer at an early age. In order to commemorate his life and to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support members of various 15th century Wars of the Roses re-enactment groups intend to recreate the 15 mile march of Lancastrian soldiers from Clifford's Tower,York to Dacre's Cross on Towton battlefield. The march, which will take place on the 29 March 2014 (the 553rd anniverary of the battle), will be undertaken in authentic costume of the period and will, where possible, attempt to follow the original route that the soldiers took.
