Each year, employees from local companies and foundations raise funds for Washington's National Parks by climbing Mount Rainier, Mount Shuksan (North Cascades) or Mount Olympus (Olympics). Are you ready to Climb for a Cause?

Story

On August 14th, 2021, I'll finally meet the mountain that looms large.

As a rock climber of 8 years and a Seattle resident of almost 3 years, Mt. Rainier has been on my mind for a while. On a clear day - though 100 miles away - she dwarfs the city's skyscrapers. She's on our license plates, she's on our postcards, and we all smile when she re-emerges from months of thick winter cloud cover.

Since moving to Seattle, climbing Mt. Rainier has been a huge personal goal. By participating in Washington National Park Fund's 2021 Climb for a Cause, I can fulfill this dream while directly supporting the conservation, outreach, and education projects that preserve and improve Mt. Rainier National Park for generations to come.

Please consider supporting me on this journey by donating using the 'Give Now' button on this page.

MIDPOINT FUNDRAISING GOAL: $1,250 by May 1

TOTAL FUNDRAISING GOAL: $2,500 by July 13

Your donation dollars will go directly towards funding Washington National Park Fund's 2021-22 Priority Projects. (WNPF-Parks-Projects-2021.pdf)

A project that I'm particularly excited about supporting seeks to enhance park access for underserved populations. For a total project cost of just $10,700, WNPF will pay for school buses so that 1,000 local, low-income students can take field trips to Mt. Rainier National Park. While millions of people from all over the world visit MRNP every year, most local, low-income students have never had the opportunity to visit, even though they live in view of the iconic peak. Your donation can help make Mt. Rainier more accessible to a more diverse audience and help build the next generation of wilderness stewards and environmental advocates.

Finally, I will be doing a LOT of training to prepare for this climb! Luckily, with the magic of ~technology~, all my training will automatically upload to this page in real time. This means that you can watch my progress each week, and it also means that you can make a monetary pledge based on my mileage, elevation gain, etc.! Please reach out to me if you'd like to make a pledge or challenge me to meet a certain training goal, I look forward to it :)
