Fundraising for RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution
Thank you for helping us to save lives at sea this Christmas by donating to Crew, Volunteers and Staff who are walking, running and cycling between Kent's 9 RNLI Lifeboat Stations. On the 3rd of December, at 5am, a group of Gravesend Crew members will set out in to the dark, making their way some 29 miles to Sheerness Lifeboat Station on foot, or by bike. From Sheerness a new team will take to the road some 27 miles to Whitstable Lifeboat station by their own steam. This will continue all the way round to Dungeness, a total of over 130 miles, all to raise vital funds to keep the RNLI afloat. Sarah Hewes, Group Leader of Thanet Fundraising Group, will be part walking and part using public transport between Margate and Walmer (including Ramsgate) Lifeboat Station, to highlight how our disabled volunteers manage supporting the RNLI.
In 2021, the RNLI launched nearly 9,000 times, coming to the aid of nearly 13,000 people, saving 296 lives. This vital service is funded purely by public donations and needs your support now as much as ever before.
