Celebrating 200 Years of the RNLI
2024 will mark the RNLI’s 200th birthday.
Therefore, we are undertaking a series of ‘200’ themed challenges between 2022 and 2024. All raising funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Association - specifically Skegness RNLI Lifeboat Station.
Any donations made to this challenge via JustGiving, we will be instructing the RNLI to designate the funds to Skegness RNLI Lifeboat Station so we can continue our lifesaving work on the Lincolnshire coast.
All challenges can be found at: https://lifeboatfundraising.org.uk/200
Skegness RNLI Lifeboat Station is the organisation that saves lives at sea. Serving the Lincolnshire coastline, you can trace the history of the Skegness lifeboat back to 1827. Today, our two lifeboats cover one of the East Coast’s busiest beaches and surrounding areas.
Explore the challenges being taken on by Skegness Lifeboat Station Crew Member Brad Johnson and his crewmates. Our challenges may be fitness and endurance, some might be a little silly and the rest could just a downright odd!
The RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, and their seasonal lifeguards look after people on busy beaches.
RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,700 lives since 1824 but they’re more than a rescue service. They influence, supervise and educate people too. Their Community Safety teams explain the risks and share safety knowledge with anyone going out to sea or to the coast. And their international teams work with like-minded organisations to help tackle drowning in communities at risk all around the world.
Where possible, our challenges will have a 200 theme to them. Whether it’s ‘200’ in distance, ‘200’ in minutes, ‘200’ in laps, or something slightly different - we’ll be fundraising between 2022 and 2024 in the lead up to the RNLI’s 200th birthday!
