Story
Pete Rhodes, a rope access manager, father and adventurer from Alford, Aberdeenshire will be setting off on a journey of immense magnitude – a solo row across the North Atlantic Ocean. More people have summited Mount Everest than rowed the Atlantic, and there’s good reason for that. During the 2,000-mile journey, Pete will encounter nature in its rawest and most powerful forms – icebergs, storms, wind, waves and of course amazing wildlife. Pete’s expectation is to not only survive these challenges but thrive in the conditions they throw at him.
The journey will start from St Johns, Newfoundland where Pete will depart from Quidi Vidi harbour and arrive in Oban, Scotland around 50 days later. The exact route will be determined by the prevailing weather and daily updates will be computed on board to ensure the most efficient passage possible.
