Story
Play Action International is taking a team of volunteers out to Uganda in summer 2022 to assist with transforming an empty field at a local school into an exciting new, safe and colourful playground! This important work will create a legacy for children to learn and develop essential life skills as well as nurture their physical, psychological and social development through the language they know best - Play!
The school is situated in a town called Jinja in the south of Uganda and is where we will be travelling next year to carry out this important work. The work that we will be doing is vital for helping the development of children and young people in disadvantaged communities across the world and I am excited to be doing my bit to raise money and raise awareness for Play Action International.
In order to do this I will be undertaking many challenges throughout the year! The distance from Bournemouth to Jinja is 6,115 miles so I have set myself the challenge of running 611.5 kilometres between October and July next year. This challenge will involve averaging around 15km every week for 10 months! During this time I plan to enter events, such as the Bournemouth Half marathon which I am taking part in on the 10th of October to help me reach my goal. This is not only a fundraiser for Play Action International but also a big challenge for myself to consistently hit this target throughout the year, but remembering the cause that I am running for will push me on to complete that extra kilometre every week!
My goal is to raise £1500 for Play Action International. I will keep you updated with my running challenge and any other challenges I may take part in throughout the year on my just giving page.
