Story
The Covid-19 pandemic has created extremely turbulent and tough times worldwide. In Sri Lanka and Nepal, families are in exactly the same situation as the UK, with mums struggling to work and provide for their families.
Rosie May has given a dry rations pack to all vulnerable families and the team on the ground continue to support them remotely. So far with your support Rosie May has been able to deliver emergency food parcels to 1,000 people in Sri Lanka. You can still support Rosie May's efforts, every donation can have a huge impact, with £15 helping to provide one of these food parcels to an extended family which will feed them for a WHOLE month. If you are a UK taxpayer eligible for gift aid we would be extremely grateful for you to add this to your donation, this would boost your donation by 25% at no cost to you!
These vital packages contain simple ingredients like 5kg of red rice, 1kg of Dhal and 1kg of onions. We will be hosting an interactive livestream cook along event through Eventbrite where you can join us in making traditional Sri Lankan dishes using ingredients that can be found in one of Rosie May's food parcels. This is a great way to get an understanding of what it's like to receive and cook with one of these food parcels, as well as being a fun and interactive activity to take part in with your family and friends.
The event will be hosted by Sam Killick and James Duffin, two University of Nottingham students currently undertaking internships with the Rosie May Foundation.
Sam: I was attracted towards working with the Rosie May Foundation due to the massive positive social impact that the charity has had on the lives of women and children in Sri Lanka and Nepal. Also, I was extremely inspired by the message behind the charity and the way that both Mary and Graham Storrie were able to turn a moment of personal tragedy into something extremely positive, giving hope to so many families.
James: I wanted to work for the Rosie May Foundation because of the variety of projects that they provide to families in Sri Lanka and Nepal. It showed me that they are willing to try new ideas to help people in need. I also thought their mission of keeping families together and supporting children's education is something that I strongly align with.
