Story
I started running after losing my sister Di Howell to breast cancer, it was the single most life-changing event and destroyed me. I became a keen runner after losing her as she was a very natural athlete and loved to run. She was my hero, and the most bad-ass person I have ever known. During her multiple chemo's, surgeries and sicknesses she never stopped training and ultimately it was after collapsing while out running that another tumour on her spine was discovered, shortly after paralysing her down one side. This, cruelly, was the only thing i remembered her ever telling me she was afraid of.
I felt closer to her when running and became a bit obsessed, not being a natural athlete i was never amazing but i could hold my own eventually.
I never managed my goal of a sub 1.30 half closest was 1.31 and change in 2017 doing the Cardiff University half. Its always been my favourite half and I have garnered a number of interesting stories during my many races in the 'diff.
Lockdown and other factors have contributed to my PTSD/Anxiety to the point I'm pretty much unable to leave the house other than work purposes and as a result I have not exercised properly in many months. I need this this to give me the drive to get back outside and stop being such a sofa parasite.🍕
I need all the help I can get so if you can help in anyway, ANY way even if its just a motivational message then please do as I'm terrified of the outside. If you donate you will be getting a full marathon for your money as I am running another half in July which will be much harder as its on the very uneven Lundy Island (hopefully it doesn't get cancelled again) so its a buy-one-get-one-free opportunity. 🤣
Anyway help make my sister proud and make me get outside
