Story
Launchpad believes everyone deserves a safe place to call
home.
They work to break the cycle of homelessness by providing
decent and safe supported accommodation. But they don’t just provide a roof over people’s heads – they work with them to develop their confidence and life skills, overcome addiction, train and find work.
Project started off as a soup kitchen in the 1970s. They now
have bed spaces for 120 people as well as offering support to people who live in other housing but might struggle to stay put or live independently without assistance.
The new drop-in service is helping over 100 people every
month. Anyone can pop in for advice and support. Whether they’re sleeping on a friend’s sofa with, worried about their rent, need benefits advice or help with alcohol or drug misuse. Friendly trained advisors help with form filling, emergency food and clothing, provide access to a computer and telephone, helping people take control and resolve their issues. People don’t need to be referred - they just come along and the
service is totally confidential.
