Story
This campaign is a collaboration between journalist, activist, and author Zainab Rights, and grass-roots organization Goals 4 Yemen. Since 2017, Rights4Yemen have led 3 charity soccer tournaments, 1 health & wellness event, and 3 virtual fundraising campaigns, raising a grand total of $200,000+ for the people of Yemen.
The impact:
Throughout our collective campaigns and charity events for Yemen, #Rights4Yemen has distributed:
Food baskets for 20,000+ families
Lifesaving cholera vaccines for 2000+ victims
School supplies for 300+ students
Every 75 seconds, a child in Yemen dies of preventable causes (UN & World Food Programme).
This is your opportunity to do something about it. Here's why you need to give whatever you can to this cause:
Yemen is facing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. The country has been plagued by over 7 years of instability, poor governance, lack of rule of law, under-development, environmental decline, and widespread poverty.
Women and children are dying not directly because of the war, but because of starvation and disease as a result of blockades on food and humanitarian supplies. Out of the 23 million Yemenis (roughly 3 out of every 4 people) in need of humanitarian aid, 19 million have been hit with famine and are severely malnourished.
In the summer of 2021, the price of food skyrocketed while Yemen’s currency collapsed even further, causing the already suffering population into further starvation - an estimated 20% increase since last year.
This Ramadan, Rights4Yemen is raising money for food baskets in order for Yemenis to have something to break their fast with. Any amount counts greatly, but a $70 donation will cover the cost of food for an average family in Yemen for an entire month. This will provide them with iftar for the rest of Ramadan and beyond.
