Story
Ok, so here we are...no longer talking about the possibility of running this event but actually taking part in it now!! (Gulps)
My running journey hasn't been a conventional one if I'm being honest. The idea of running for long periods of time was something I couldn't run away from fast enough (Excuse the pun).
I mean, I could be mistaken but I haven't seen too many happy runners...lol
That being said, I decided to give the couch to 5k a try during 'lockdown' and found that, to my surprise, it was something that I enjoyed doing.
Watching my distances and times improve with every run allowed me to focus more, and clear my head of all the 'Noise' that would otherwise dominate my headspace with all that I had going on.
This is why the idea of running for a charity like MIND made so much sense to me. There are a myriad of causes worth running for, but I just felt that this particular one was a bit closer to home and felt a bit more personal for me.
I like to think that I've been on a bit of a journey, both mentally and spiritually these past 24 months, and running just happened to be one of my only constants throughout that period, so taking on this challenge for MIND, but also for myself is something I'm both nervous and excited about at the same time.
I am well aware of the struggles we face on a daily basis with regard to finances and the cost of living so I fully appreciate any amount you can spare..if any :-)
So if you feel that this is something you'd like to support and join me on my journey to the TCS London Marathon 2023, in support of MIND, then any amount you wish to donate would be greatly appreciated.
I will hopefully be posting some progress media throughout my training so feel free to come by the page and watch me trying to feign injury in order to save face..haha.
Once again, thanks for taking the time to read this wall of text, and hope to see you soon!! xx
Best regards
Rif
