I will be doing "The Waterfall Trail" on 20th October 2018, which is a sponsored trek to support Islamic Help’s work with children from a deprived background in Bangladesh. For over 10 years Islamic Help has been working directly in Bangladesh. Currently they are running projects to support orphans, street children and children from low-income households.
Children who are orphans are given regular sponsorship and children who are living on the street and susceptible to violence, substance abuse, trafficking and other gruesome realities are given the opportunity to develop themselves at Islamic Help’s unique cricket academy. The cricket academy provides a platform for young children and teenagers who are living on the streets or from a low-income household, to receive professional, regular training and pursue a career in cricket.
They are also provided with informal education and food but more than anything, they’re provided with a chance and a place of safety where they can grow and fulfil their potential, something which is usually only accessible to the wealthy. As cricket is one of Bangladesh’s most loved sports, this is a unique way to engage with children who are usually quite hard to reach.
I have always wanted to do something for children, it tugs on my heart that I have never been able to do much for these innocent souls. I have now been given the opportunity to do this trek for this specific cause!
By sponsoring me, you will allow Islamic Help to continue their work with children in Bangladesh, the orphans, the street children and those from a low-income household.
Please dig deep and donate! جزاك اللهُ خير
Ridwan
