Story
"Predict. Prevent. Protect. You could call it our mantra. As the only UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer, we’re committed to freeing the world from the disease altogether. Unlike many cancer charities, we’re focused on preventing, rather than curing. Promoting early diagnosis, screening and lifestyle changes, we believe we can stop the problem before it starts. And being situated at the only breast cancer prevention centre in the UK, we’re right at the front-line in the fight against the disease."
We all know of someone who is or has been directly affected either personally or indirectly by Cancer. This became a reality for me and my family in September last year when my wife Deb was diagnosed with Breast Cancer - we were very lucky that it was very much in the early stages. We had the best of a bad situation. But there were many people we met along the way who weren't as lucky as us.
As they say prevention is better than cure and with this in mind it was decided that we as a Company and our customer's but more importantly as a group of friends we would take part in the Prudential Ride London for "Prevent Breast Cancer"
The ride itself is only one of many fund raising events and activities we'll be taking part in prior to the ride in July.
In addition to the Ride London, Mike is riding the Pilgrims 100, Mont Ventoux (labelled as the hardest climb in the Tour de France), The New Forest sportive and later on in the year the South Velo.
The male employees at Contenur will be undergoing a sponsored waxing and the complete team will be hiking up Pendle Hill.
Marcus is taking part in the Hasting 1/2 marathon, the Fred Whitton and the Pilgrims 100 plus many more.
I’ll (Bob) be targeting a few 100 mile rides as well but am not quite so hard core as Mike and Marcus.
The Cycling team consists of Neil, Anna, Bob and Marcus from Contenur, Patrick from The Durham Company, Stuart & Stefanie from Straight, Lewis from MGB and not forgetting Mike from Countrystyle.
Any donations large or small would be greatly appreciated, I will update you all as we go and events are ticked off - thanks Bob
