Story
On Saturday , November 5th I I will be participating virtually in the 12th Camp Boggy Creek Ride for Children. I will be riding in support of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Camp Boggy Creek is a place of dreams, joy & possibilities, where kids can just be kids! Founded by Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf in 1996, Camp Boggy Creek has made it possible for children with serious illnesses to enjoy a camp experience in a safe, medically-sound environment. The 232-acre camp serves children ages 7-16 who've been diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening conditions at absolutely no cost to them or their families.
I am riding in honor of my sweet student, Meredith Pence. Meredith was born with a rare epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. Her early years were marked with frequent hospital stays and lengthy seizures, some as long as 30 minutes. The word "no" has been a big part of her life. Don't get overheated. Don't get too excited. Don't do anything too strenuous. Seizures are frustrating. Being kept from normal kid activities is frustrating, too. Camp is a place where kids can just be kids in a safe environment while connecting with other kids with the same medical condition. It is truly Meredith's favorite place and has helped build her identity and self-esteem. No family ever pays for camp. Your contribution helps keep the joy of camp possible for awesome kids like Meredith.
Help me reach my goal and support the mission of Camp Boggy Creek by making a donation to my page today. Your support will ensure campers are able to attend camp absolutely free of charge! Thank YOU in advance!
