Story
Since the invasion over two million Ukrainians have fled their homes and lives to safety in the West. Those who can't, stay to support our country's fight for survival. One of those people is my Grandma Nina.
Normally she would be tending to her vegetable patch or feeding the chickens in our small village farmhouse. These days she spends her days making camouflage netting out of the clothes we outgrew as children. I hope one day we can return to visit her.
The past weeks have shaken our family and the Ukrainian community to its core. I've felt dread and helplessness at the crisis unfolding in our country, and I know that many others have felt the same. But I've realized there's ways we can all help from the UK.
This includes raising money and awareness for the amazing charities who are supporting citizens and refugees fleeing the conflict.
505km is the distance refugees fleeing the capital Kyiv have to travel to escape to Poland. I'm going to cycle that distance in one day.
We will be doing laps of Regent's Park Inner Circle. That loop is a perfect 1km. So it will take a dizzying 505km laps!
I'm raising money for The Red Cross Appeal, they are doing incredible work supporting refugees fleeing Ukraine.
