Story
I am joining a fundraising team for the children's wards of Kings College Hospital and in honour of Evie Dove. Evie is the daughter of Howard (a long term colleague and all round good egg) and Katie, in April 2020 they received the devastating news that 12 year old daughter had been diagnosed with a brain tumour, every parent’s worst nightmare. Devastatingly Evie passed away in March 2022, after a year long battle, during which time she continually inspired us with her humour, bravery, positivity and gratitude for the support and love she had around her.
I will be joining the Essex Ride 100, where I'll be riding 100 miles around London. You may think "he pretty much does that every week".... which has been true but not for two years or so, I am both older and heavier and since returning from furlough and have done nothing like the levels of cycling I used to. Short story this is going to be very challenging.
The money will be spent on various projects to support children and their families needing help from Kings, the first of which being the complete revamp of the parents facilities in the hospital wards - meaning that tired, stressed, upset parents can have better facilities at their disposal when supporting their loved ones - a new and improved kitchen and rest areas, better information and support at the times it is most needed.
