************************************************************************** On 6th September 2015 Jack, Alun, Iain and I will begin our 3500 mile journey across the United States of America from San Francisco to New York by bicycle - a journey we are hoping to complete in just 42 days!
In the first couple of weeks, we will do a significant amount of climbing across the Rockies. After riding through Death Valley, Vegas and the Grand Canyon National Park, we'll ride through Colorado, reaching Kansas City by the four week mark. The final two weeks will see us make our way past St Louis, Cincinnati and Philadelphia, before reaching New York City six weeks after leaving the west coast. We will be carrying our own kit, wild camping and cooking our own meals throughout the whole journey. Without a single rest day scheduled, time will be tight.
Inspiration for the trip was born from a previous long distance tour completed in 2012 and similarly we have chosen to continue our fundraising efforts for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity. It’s an ambitious challenge but we hope that by making our lives pretty uncomfortable for 42 days we can raise as much money as possible to allow the Marie Curie nurses make the lives of those diagnosed with terminal illness a little more comfortable. Any donations to keep us motivated through the tougher sections and help Marie Curie continue their support would be greatly appreciated.
We hope to provide updates on our progress through this charity page as well as through other links to photos and blogs so bookmark this page, share it with your friends and colleagues and be sure to check back for updates.
Thanks
Ash, Jack, Iain and Alun
