Story
On 23rd November 2020 my wife (and close friend of Mark & Sue) Vicky lost her long battle with cancer. Vick received fantastic help and support from the macmillan team throughout her illness and we want to try and help other families through their cancer journey. Whilst we were relatively financially secure this is often a major issue for others. This appeal seeks to provide financial support for those most in need. Like my other fundraising efforts I am keen to see any funds being used locally with tangible outcomes. Grants are set at £350 so we would like to set the target for 10 grants.
I last completed a marathon with Mark 13 years ago but gave up running due to injury (and old age). This will no doubt be a difficult task but nothing compared with the pain and suffering many cancer patients experience. Our aim is to simply complete the distance so please look out for us on the 3rd October , we are planning a few ideas to get recognised !
This appeal will see every donation stay in Yorkshire. Macmillan professionals, provide training and resources to existing professionals, provide Grants to help the most financially vulnerable patients and provide expert advice through the Support Line to help people avoid financial difficulties. A significant drop in voluntary income at a time when a growing number of people who need our support in Yorkshire means we need your help like never before.
