Story
At the end of last year, a friend of mine was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, extremely rare for a person her age but life really does come knocking with surprises. Her testimony and journey isn’t mine to share but is the reason I am choosing to run for Leukaemia Care.
Leukaemia Care are a national charity supporting anyone affected by Leukaemia. Their support is not only limited to patients, but extends to their families, providing support financially, emotionally and practically, through services such as support groups, patient information booklets, helplines and by providing grants.
On 21st April 2024 when I step out to run my 3rd marathon, I am running for every single person who has been diagnosed, is receiving treatment or lost a loved one to leukaemia. I am running so that charities like Leukaemia Care can fulfil their mission of assisting people with the support they need and deserve.
My friend was 24 when diagnosed, I was shocked because she was so young, afraid of the unknown and confused at how this happened. I was overwhelmed at the love and support she received from all those who loved her. Surrounding herself with prayer warriors who journey with her through every step.
Cancer does not discriminate, it’s the unknown that can come knocking at anytime. I am running to ensure that when it comes knocking on someone’s door, charities like Leukaemia Care are there to provide support.
What I am asking for is a leap of Faith. This will be my biggest charity target I have looked to raise alone.
My target milestones are:
- £1,000 by 1st October 2023
- £1,500 by 1st December 2023
- £1,800 by 1st February 2024
- £2,000 by 1st April 2024
Are you ready to take on this challenge with me?
