Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm hoping now you have come this far you will make a donation - whatever you can. You can see my target and what I need to achieve!
Having completed the GNR last year I fancied another challenge for 2011. When I heard about this bike ride, I thought - great fun. Now, having signed up I've realised that more than 260 miles in 3.5 days will certainly be a challenge, and hopefully fun too!
Training will start once I get a bike and then on the 27 April at 9.00 I will depart the Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield in the direction of the Withdean Stadium, Brighton. Stopping at hotels near Nottingham, Milton Keynes and Gatwick, with the addition of cycling through London on the day of the Royal Wedding it will certainly be an adventure. (See route)
It is all in the name of the 'Keep it Up' (www.keepitup.org.uk) campaign which has been a real successful fundraising effort between the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town FC. I'm sure you will agree the YAA is a great beneficiary and you never know when you, or a close friend or family member may require its assistance - hopefully not. The YAA receives no government so it is partnerships like this which 'keep it up' and keep it saving lives.
Thanks again for any donation.
Update - 5/4/11
Having had the bike for a couple of weeks I am now in the midst of my own training programme. Having completed practice ride number 5 last night (with Big Col) I noticed that my total mileage from all the rides equates to the expected total on day one. A kick in the teeth if I ever needed one! I did received some good news in that DLA Piper have promised to match my fund raising capped at £250 so thank you very much Steve Sly. On with the training now, some big rides needed!!
