South Coast Challenge 2018 · 25 August 2018 to 26 August 2018 ·
I have put off writing this for a while now as I knew how hard it would be but I know it’s needs to be done if I am going to help raise money for a well deserved charity.
After the Isle of Wight challenge I said never again will I do this but here we are and yes I’m carzy to be doing another one of these challenges and putting my body though what can only be described as hell lol.
This time I will be walking the south coast from Eastbourne to arundel which in total is 100km distance (62miles) non-stop though the night. That’s right, walk though the night with no sleep all in the name of charity.
Not many people will know this as I keep a lot of things like this guarded but I and my family lost one of the most amazing people ... my nan. She survived breast cancer about 3-4 years ago though strength and determination but sadly in September 2017 we lost her to lung cancer. Luckily for nan it was not the long drawn out suffering it could have been but as always she took it all in her strid right up until the end. People who know me will know what my nan meant to me, and although we knew it was going to happen it really doesn’t prepare you for whats in store. I can easily say that it was and has been the worst time in my life. My nan meant the world to me - she was my favourite woman (other than my mum) and its still hurts 6 months on that she is not here. Although macmillian didn’t help her for long what they did for her while she was here was amazing. I want to give back to the charity so that they can help others going though this to try and make what is the worst time just that little easier and more comfortable.
Please give what ever you can as I want to do my nan proud as I will be doing this in her name and I hope I have the strength she had to get though it.
Thank you in advance
Richard xx
