Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Mend Our Mountains is a call to action to everyone who values the hills, mountains and landscapes of Britain. Mend Our Mountains: Make One Million, is a year-long appeal to raise £1 million in total for a range of vital path repair projects within the UK’s entire family of 15 National Parks.
I’m walking each of the 13 ‘primary projects’ paths featured in the campaign. These are spread across 11 National parks from the South Downs to the Cairngorms. I’ll be doing this challenge over 12 consecutive days beginning September 24th. It’s around 120 miles of walking with a combined ascent approx.equal to that of Everest!

You might wonder what motivated me to take on this challenge?
Well more and more people are recognising the benefits of the outdoors. It’s great on so many levels. This is excellent but has the drawback of path damage on the hills which is accelerating. Paths are taking ‘more of a battering’ than ever. It’s important to do what we can to maintain these routes in our most visited areas so the scars on the landscape don’t get to the point of being irreparable. Various techniques are proven to work and will last a lifetime - but cost alot. The National Parks go a great job but they just don’t have the funding.
These are the areas/paths that I will be walking:-
Mon 24th Sept, Yorkshire Dales, Whernside
Tue 25th Sept, South Downs, South Downs Way
Weds 26th Sept, New Forest, Lepe Loop circular
Thur 27th Sept, Dartmoor, Nuns Cross Path
Fri 28th Sept, Exmoor (x2) The Chains & Two moors way
Sat 29th Sept, Peak District, The Great Ridge
Sun 30th Sept, Lake District, Scafell Pike
Mon 1st Oct, Peak District, Cut gate
Tue 2nd Oct, Brecon Beacons, Bal Mawr
Weds 3rd Oct, Snowdonia, Cadair idris
Thur 4th Oct, Loch Lomond, Ben Vane
