San Francisco Half Marathon · 18 July 2008

We support access to education in Africa to empower people affected by HIV/AIDS

Story

Thank you for showing interest in my run. I ran the San Francisco half-marathon (21.1 km) on Sunday 3rd August, with a group of 16 other participants from around the world who are also attending the 6 1/2 -week Executive Program at Stanford University.   I finished in a time of 2 hours 12 minutes 53 seconds, slightly better than my target of 2 1/4 hours.  The half-marathon route took us along San Francisco waterfront, over the Golden Gate Bridge (and return), then back towards the city and the finish in Golden Gate Park. The final third of the race was hilly and hard work, making-up for the first five miles before the Golden Gate Bridge - virtually flat along the waterfront!

If you've already sponsored me by donating to The Mango Tree, thank you for your support.  If not, it's not too late, as this site will remain open for donations until 3rd October!  The Mango Tree is a fantastic charity doing great work with orphans in Tanzania and Kenya. Brief details below left; more online at  www.themangotree.org

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Mango Tree Orphan Support Programme gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. (i.e., for every donation of £10.00, The Mango Tree will receive £12.80.)

Thank you for your support.

Richard
