Story
Richard Briers CBE, one of our best loved and respected actors, died on 17th February 2013.
We will be raising funds at the Leicester Square Theatre to celebrate Richard's life and will be joined by some of Richard’s family and friends in this tenth anniversary salute to an extraordinary career and an extraordinary man.
Richard’s daughters, Kate & Lucy Briers, his stage and screen co-star Peter Egan, and his biographer James Hogg, author of the book More Than Just a Good Life: The Authorised Biography of Richard Briers, will be joined by many other friends and admirers, including Penelope Wilton, Susan Hampshire, Alastair Mackenzie along with a few surprises.
Fondly remembered for his situation comedy roles, Richard Briers starred as Tom Good in The Good Life, Martin Bryce in Ever Decreasing Circles, George Starling in Marriage Lines, and so many more.
A valued member of Kenneth Branagh’s film repertory company, Richard was a stalwart of the National Theatre, and brought joy and dignity to everything from Jeeves & Wooster to Doctor Who.
Hosted by Britain’s comedy historian Robert Ross, this will be a heart-felt look-back on the life and work of a national treasure, with lots of rare clips from the vaults, and hilarious memories of a thoroughly good man.
According to the wishes of Richard’s family, a profit donation will be made to the British Lung Foundation. If you are unable to attend but would still like to make a donation, please do so here.
