Run /walk /cycling 5km + EVERY DAY IN APRIL FUNDRAISER
Hi everyone! As you may know our dear friend Richard Barrett lost his fight with motor neurones disease last year. Richard was an incredible Brother, uncle and friend. Richard had the kindest heart, the punniest jokes and was full of stories of adventure.
He was well known in Stirling as 'hat man', for obvious reasons, and more recently 'banana man' for his love of the bendy fruit which he took to summer festivals by the crate loads with his 'banana bunch' to hand out to hungry ravers. Others near and far would know him from Nicky Tams in Stirling or for his acting career, his most recent performance being in the anti-fracking stage show 'What the Frack'. Here's a link to his YouTube channel for some clips taken from the various films he was in amongst other videos: https://youtube.com/user/rchardbarrett
I know I can definitely say that so many of his friends and family truly miss him. I have many fond memories listening to music, dancing at festivals, handing out bananas and sitting round fires at 4am.
EDIT :
Please help by sponsoring me and I will run / walk/ cycle 5km + every day in april for Richard. I initially was only going to be running every day but due to a new diagnoses for myself I am challanging myself to run/cycle/walk 5km plus every day. I will be doing this wearing a MND Scotland Tshirt supplied by the charity.
The donations will go straight to MND Scotland. This charity armed Richard with information, gave him and his family support and everything he needed.
Motor neurone disease is a rare condition that affects around two in every 100,000 people in the UK each year. There are about 5,000 people living with the condition in the UK at any one time.
There is no cure for motor neurone disease.
What your support means:
£10… could provide a Patient Information Pack giving the best quality of information to someone with MND and their family
£50… could help us to deliver essential equipment to someone living with MND
£250… could fund a Support Group meeting for people affected by MND
£500… could pay for Time Out Grants, helping people access respite care or to go on a last family holiday
£750… could enable someone with MND and their carer to have a course of Complementary Therapy
£1,500… could pay for an eye gaze device, giving someone the power to communicate using only their eyes.
