Story
I grew up in Grimsby and remember the RNLI playing a frequent and fundamental role in saving life in the local fishing industry. Locals and tourists alike were also often rescued from the surrounding treacherous beaches. Such activities are still undertaken around the UK by unpaid RNLI volunteers with no government income, sometimes in the most atrocious conditions
My big challenge is to raise £2500 for the RNLI Lifeboat appeal. It costs £325,000 per day to continue this long and proud tradition.
My much bigger challenge is to complete the London Marathon with a shred of dignity intact after spending far more of my life surrounded by Silk Cut and Tetley's bitter than by Lycra and running shoes.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support, whatever it is.
