Story

Welcome!! And Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. A page that combines sponsorship for myself to run the London Marathon and also cash donations from our big fundraising event ‘ShortsFest’, all in aid of the children’s charity Action Medical Research.

Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. For 65 years we’ve helped pioneer ways to prevent disease and develop treatments benefiting millions of people. Our research has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths. But we urgently need to develop more new treatments and cures for sick babies and children and we can’t do it without you. Join our fight for little lives!

So….our small team and many many helpers organised ShortsFest. A family fun Music Driven Day Festival at the Alverbank Hotel on September 5th entitled ‘ShortsFest’ in memory of our dear friend ‘Siobhan Glenn’ (aka Shorts) and her sister Alie Glenn who passed away last year. All proceeds of this wonderful day went and are still going towards Action Medical Research. It was a big success, fun for all and helped us drive towards our fundraising target. We also hope to build upon this in 2022 if possible.

Aswell as the festival fundraiser, I personally am running the London Marathon in less than a week. A gruelling 26.2 mile s that I have been preparing for for five months. It’s been a long journey and I’m really hoping to do people proud and in the process raise as many funds as I can for Action Medical Research Children’s Charity.

Action Medical Research is a fantastic charity, that I really believe in, they fund research into improving the chances and treatment for children with brain tumours and cancers. Did you know that in the UK alone almost 4000 children and young people under 25 are diagnosed with cancer every year. That's a staggering statistic.

Around 2000 babies are diagnosed with cerebral palsy every year in the UK, that's every year! Action are funding research into combatting this.

Each year around 60000 babies in the UK are born preterm, and sadly 1000 die as a result of being born too soon, and for those that do survive they may face numerous life changing complications. Through funding Action have launched a 'Help Stop Babies being born too soon' campaign.

These examples are just a tiny few of what Action do to help little lives but it all requires donations, without you, it cannot be done.

I feel honoured not only to represent Action Medical Research but also more importantly, able to raise funds for them and in the process make a difference to tiny lives.

All cash donations are greatly appreciated. Please help us by donating anything you can or sponsoring anything you can, whether its £50 or 50p, honestly every penny counts and is gratefully received.

I'm very excited to see what we, together can achieve.

Thank you x
