Richard understood the healing power of music and how it could enrich lives. He sang in choirs and encouraged his children and grandchildren to play musical instruments and to sing. In his later years Richard lived with dementia which cruelly robbed him of memories of his family, friends, pupils, athletes, colleagues and achievements. During his illness Richard gained much comfort and enjoyment from listening to music. Music Therapy became an important part of his life and enabled him to engage and connect with people and his surroundings. 

Richard was always giving encouragement and support to others. We believe that he would be delighted that vulnerable people young and old could experience the benefit of music therapy in his memory.
