Story
I'm doing this for a very personal reason. Five years ago my son Ben was 12 when he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a very rare form of c@ncer. After months of chemo, a life saving operation, more chemo and radio therapy his journey didn’t stop there.
Months in a wheel chair and hours of hydro and intense physio Ben continues to amaze us. He continues to have regular check ups, our lives will never be the same but we are so great full to the amazing doctors, nurses and charities that support us.
8 months of chemo therapy
x10 sessions of radio therapy
x1 pioneering lifesaving operation
6 months in a wheelchair
12 months on crutches
Hundreds of hours physio therapy
We are so proud of him!
When Ben started his treatment we were put on the Oncology ward at Birmingham Children's Hospital and later the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, both we great for smaller children but not so good for the older ones. They wanted their own space, felt very vulnerable and uncomfortable. The Teenage Cancer Trust staff allowed Ben and his brothers to access a separate room geared up for teenagers. Ben wasn't quite a teenager but we really appreciated this and it really helped at a time when we all needed it.
This is why I'm running for The Teenage Cancer Trust.
This will be my 7th London Marathon, I'm so proud to be running for the Teenage Cancer Trust, I'm hoping this will inspire others to get out of their comfort zones and try something new and truly see what you are capable of.
My son was incredibly fortunate to be supported by some really wonderful charities that have helped him along the way, but not everyone is this fortunate. Please donate we really need your support. 🙏🏻x
