With over 30 years teaching experience, mostly in special needs education, I believe one of the great challenges for society is the growing number of young people growing up without adequate family support, positive role models or an education which truly meets their needs. Such young people often find it very difficult to form positive and lasting relationships with other people or gain a place at college or get and hold down a job. 

Last year I started working for Surrey Care Trust and was immediately struck by the tremendous work taking place with some of the most challenging and vulnerable people in Surrey. The Trust is a charitable organisation which really does make a difference to the lives of young people and adults. It aims to make Surrey a better, fairer and safer community for us all to live in.
