Story
On May 27th this year my Dad sadly passed away after a near 3 year battle with cancer. His final weeks were spent at the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope. The care provided by the whole team during the 5 weeks my Dad was there was absolutely amazing and I genuinely do not know what we would have done without them. This was not just medical, and practical care, but incredible emotional care shown to both my Dad and to me during an unbelievably sad time. All of this provided to us by staff working under the stresses of the Covid-19 pandemic. This team are incredible. As all of this has unfolded just a couple of weeks short of my 40th birthday, the most positive thing I feel I can do is try to raise some desperately needed money to help keep this facility running. So - I am aiming to walk 40 miles (one for each of my 40 years) within 24 hours along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, walking from Riddlesden Near Keighley, to a village called East Marten, near Barnoldswick - and back on July 25th. Please donate anything that you can to this cause. Approximately £20 provides one hour of care for a patient and the Covid crisis has left Manorlands with a £1.5 million funding shortfall this year. They desperately need funds, please help if you can. Thanks so much!
